Perched atop a hill along Zhongshan Lu, this majestic structure showcases a blend of Gothic and Roman architectural styles. Constructed in 1934, the original intention was to have clock towers on the church spires, but due to funding cuts by Chancellor Hitler, these plans were abandoned.
The Cultural Revolution inflicted severe damage on the church, resulting in the removal of crosses from its twin spires. However, during the restoration work in 2005, diligent workers unearthed the crosses, which had been buried by devout locals for safekeeping. The crosses have since been restored to their rightful place.
