The Grand Mosque in Salalah, officially called the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, is the largest mosque in Oman and one of the largest in the world. It was opened in 2009 and can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers at a time.The mosque features a mix of Islamic and Omani architectural styles and has a number of intricate and opulent details. The interior floor is covered with white marble, and the large main dome reaches a height of 50 meters.The mosque also houses the second largest hanging lamp in the world, made of gold-plated brass and with a diameter of 8 meters.The mosque courtyard is surrounded by columns and arches, while the white marble minaret rises above the mosque. Inside the mosque are wide open spaces, including a large central atrium, decorated with colorful mosaic tiles. The main prayer hall is decorated with beautiful Persian carpets and tapestries, and features a large central dome.The mosque also has a library and a separate prayer hall for women. The mosque is open to visitors, but visitors are advised to dress appropriately and observe the rules of behavior during the visit.
