The hilly and Piedmont area north of Treviso has a unique terrain that has favored the development of fortified sites since ancient times. These sites are located at strategic points and are part of the agricultural landscape. Two notable examples are the Collalto Castle built in 1110 by Ensedisio I, and the grand castle of San Salvatore, constructed in 1245. The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was originally dedicated to San Daniele and was rebuilt in the 12th century. The current church, dedicated to the Visitation, was built in the 15th century along with its bell tower, thanks to the efforts of the lords of Collalto. Despite being heavily damaged during World War I, the church still holds the 16th-century altarpiece by Giovanni Antonio de 'Sacchis (Il Pordenone) depicting the Madonna with Saints, and remnants of 15th-century frescoes, uncovered during the restoration work that began in 1984.
