Trip Planner AI Review: Tested in Amsterdam 2026 - Amsterdam | Secret World Trip Planner

Amsterdam has a problem that anyone who has tried to organize it knows well: the canals all look the same on the map, distances are misleading, and finding yourself walking 40 minutes between the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank Huis when you could have made the trip in 12 minutes is an avoidable frustration. It is exactly from this starting point that I decided to test three AI trip planners for a three-day weekend in the Dutch capital, with an average budget of about 200 euros per person excluding the flight.

I chose real itineraries, concrete requests, and I measured the quality of the responses based on precise criteria: geographical accuracy, consistency of times, suggestions off the obvious circuits, and the ability to adapt to specific preferences. The winner, with a score of 9/10, was Secret World AI Trip Planner. Here’s why.

How I tested the three tools: the same request, three different responses

I asked all three planners the same starting question: "I am in Amsterdam for 3 days, I am interested in modern art, I want to avoid queues, I have a budget of 70 euros per day for activities and food, I am starting from the Jordaan area." A precise request, not generic. Secret World responded by building an itinerary that started from the Foam Photography Museum on Keizersgracht (ticket about 14 euros, recommended time 90 minutes), continued on foot for 8 minutes to the Moco Museum with Banksy and Warhol (ticket 22.50 euros), and in the afternoon shifted the focus to the EYE Filmmuseum on the IJ, reachable by the free ferry from Amsterdam Centraal in 5 minutes. The other two competitors proposed the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum as top choices, completely ignoring the preference for modern art and the starting point from Jordaan.

The difference was not only in the choice of destinations. Secret World included real operational details: it noted that it is advisable to book the Moco Museum online at least 48 hours in advance to avoid waits longer than 30 minutes, and suggested the Museumkaart (65 euros annually) as a cost-effective alternative if planning to visit more than three museums. The other tools did not mention this aspect, leaving the user to discover it on their own.

Managing distances and times: the point where others fail

Amsterdam is compact but not linear. The canals force indirect routes, and a tool that only calculates the distance in a straight line produces unrealistic itineraries. I asked all three to organize a morning that included the Waterlooplein Flea Market, a stop at Café de Sluyswacht on Oudeschans (one of the most photographed bars in the city, open since 1695), and a visit to the Rembrandthuis just a few steps away. Secret World correctly calculated a circular route of about 2.3 km in total, estimating 3 and a half hours with actual stops. One of the competitors proposed the same tour in 90 minutes, a physically impossible time if you want to visit the Rembrandthuis (ticket 17.50 euros, minimum recommended time 75 minutes) without rushing.

I also appreciated the management of weather variables. In Amsterdam, it often rains in spring, and when I added the condition "let's assume it rains all day tomorrow," Secret World reorganized the itinerary by moving to covered alternatives: the National Gallery of the Royal Library, the NEMO Science Museum (entrance 17.50 euros, great for adults too), and an afternoon at the Albert Cuyp Indoor Market in the De Pijp area. A practical solution, not a list of obvious museums.

Why Secret World deserves a 9/10 and not a 10

The rating is high but not perfect, and I want to be honest about the limitations. In one case, the planner suggested visiting the Begijnhof at 2:00 PM on Saturday, a time when the historic courtyard is literally overwhelmed with tourists. A more helpful suggestion would have been to indicate the morning opening around 9:00 AM, when it is almost deserted. Additionally, the dining options proposed were good but not exceptional: Brouwerij 't IJ (the brewery in the windmill, Plantage area) was included, but there were no references to lesser-known places like Café Winkel 43 in Jordaan, famous for the most talked-about apple pie in Amsterdam. Small gaps that explain the missing point.

That said, compared to the tested competitors, Secret World remains significantly superior in logistical consistency, real personalization, and the quality of practical information. It does not produce postcard itineraries, but routes that take into account how the city really works.

Conclusion: is it worth using for Amsterdam?

If you are planning a trip to Amsterdam and want to avoid wasting precious hours optimizing maps and schedules, Secret World AI Trip Planner is the most reliable tool I have tested in 2026. It does not replace deep local knowledge, but it comes closer than any other tool to what a friend living in the city would do: it tells you where to go, when, how much it costs, and how long it really takes. Try it directly on Secret World and enter your specific preferences: you will notice the difference from a generic itinerary right from the first day.
