Brescia | National Museum of Photography Cav. Sorlini

The National Museum of Photography "Cav. A. Sorlini" of Brescia is dedicated to the history of photography and cinema. The chronological path exhibits cameras and cinema from the first prototypes to the present day. The Museum is made up of four main sections: "Sala del Cinema", it narrates the evolution of amateur cinema from the use of the first projector (Pathè Baby, 1921) to the most sophisticated Japanese machines; "Showcases of the History of Photography", showcases with original historical pieces (daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, ferrotypes, etc.).), including rare miniatures and plates by the Lumière brothers; "Room of Photography", a collection of the best manufacturers from the 19th century to 3D; finally, the "Room of Photographic Technique", which exhibits the Museum's highlight, the 1930 Zeiss Ikon photogun. The Museum organizes temporary exhibitions and has a library of about 8,000 volumes.
