Top of the World
The Munich Art Hall is a cultural institution that, unlike museums, does not have its own collection of works of art, but presents three to four temporary exhibitions every year. Educational programs, guided tours, lectures, concerts and special offers for families with children are organized here.
It receives around 300,000 visitors annually, making it one of the most visited exhibition halls in Germany. The spectrum ranges from prehistory and early history to the present day. Border art areas, protohistoric and non-European as well as interdisciplinary topics are open to visitors.
Since the opening of the hall in 1985, over 100 exhibitions have been held here. In 2001, the institution moved to a new headquarters, designed and implemented by the Swiss architectural office Herzog & de Meuron. The Art Hall in Munich works in close cooperation with various regional and national cultural institutions.
