The Casa Museo Stanze al Genio is located inside a private house. Visitors can appreciate the painted majolica floor and the frescoes from the end of 1700-beginning of 1800. An immense hidden heritage of antique majolica, to which other collections have been added over the years. The over 5,000 majolicas on display, of Neapolitan and Sicilian origin (late 16th century - early 20th century) are distributed on the main floor of Palazzo Torre Piraino, where you can also admire smaller collections of old toys, vintage tin boxes, stationery, ink bottles, advertising labels from the mid-20th century and a new section of contemporary ceramics. The founder is Pio Mellina, a collector since childhood who, with the help of some friends, managed to fulfil his dream of sharing with enthusiasts and tourists this small world full of beauty, passion for art and restoration. Pio over time, thanks to the support of enthusiasts, has continued to collect majolica and antique art objects, such as inkwells and metal boxes. Today the collection is among the largest in the world.
