The wide staircase precedes a portico with round arches, supported by high monolithic columns. The portal is dated 1504.
The interior has a single nave with, on the right, a small side aisle delimited by strong and low columns surmounted by wide and flattened capitals, decorated with foliage and of Romanesque taste, on which three arches and ribbed vaults with Renaissance frescoes are unloaded.

Of remarkable artistic interest is the big, sixteenth-century altarpiece of the high altar on which in the cusp is reproduced the Martyrdom of S. Margherita, in the central frame the Annunciation, with St. Joseph on the right and St. John the Baptist on the left.
There is also a valuable 16th century painted panel depicting the Annunciation on the right wall of the apse.
On the entrance portal there is an Annunciation in terracotta.
The church was part of the ancient Convent of the Celestine Friars.
