The creation of a Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Municipality of Messina (GAMM) within the Palazzo della Cultura "Antonello da Messina," has made it possible to create an exhibition space where the numerous works of art that were previously housed in various buildings and facilities belonging to the municipality can be permanently housed. A Gallery that in addition to allowing the proper preservation and enjoyment of works of art of considerable thickness, is the ideal location to host events, solo and group exhibitions, conferences, study seminars and any other event that revolves around figurative culture. Inaugurated on Feb. 25, 2012 on the occasion of the fourth edition of the Night of Culture, the Gallery is an exhibition space curated by Art Historian Giovanna Famà and set up by arch. Antonio Virgilio in the hall on the second floor of the Palacultura that offers an exhaustive cross-section of the various testimonies of twentieth-century art of the last century, a path that leads the visitor to enjoy the testimonies of local and international artists through styles and trends that have characterized the temper of the visual arts in all its genres and tendencies.
