In the green heart of Umbria, among the reeds and the enchanting white water lily, lies Lake Trasimeno, a true natural paradise where wild ducks, cormorants, the kite, and kingfishers flock. Framing beyond the flat slope are rolling hills with forests alternating with fields of sunflowers and corn, vineyards and expanses of olive trees. Lake Trasimeno is, with an area of 128 km², the largest lake in central Italy, fourth among Italian lakes immediately after Lake Como. This extension is coupled with a shallow depth (average 4.3 m, maximum 6 m) so that Trasimeno is among the laminar type lakes. There are three islands in Lake Trasimeno, namely, in order of size, Polvese, Maggiore and Minore.
