For a year now I had been aware of an almost enchanted place near Seravezza with natural pools of crystal clear water and waterfalls: Le Polle di Malbacco. The waterfalls are located in the Apuan Alps Regional Park and more precisely in Upper Versilia. The water here is freezing cold-even in the middle of August. The scenery is unique and lying on the ground with a towel you can lay your eyes on green trees, smaller waterfalls, jagged outlines of the rocks from which the spring water gushes. Here the Serra River, which has its source on Mount Altissimo, at 1321 meters, creates, in its descent to the valley, a series of natural pools and waterfalls that follow one another for several kilometers, creating a unique and striking landscape.
The pools and waterfalls of Malbacco, immersed in a lush and almost unspoiled nature, can be explored by going upstream along the stream, a solution that allows you to discover the most secret pools, or by taking the road from Malbacco up to Monte Altissimo and then following the signs for the descents to the stream.
