Top of the World
The Wine Museum or WiMu (acronym for Wine Museum) is a historical, artistic and multimedia exhibition space dedicated to wine and the wine civilization. It is located in the rooms of the thirteenth-century castle of the Falletti family, now owned by the municipality of Barolo, near Cuneo. The museum was inaugurated on September 13, 2010. The museography designed by François Confino is an invitation to a symbolic, emotional and sensorial immersion in the culture of wine. The visit - which winds through twenty-five rooms with different exhibition concepts in each room - begins on the upper floor and then descends to the lower floors: the third floor is dedicated to the times of wine where the visitor is transported to the roots of the vine. The second floor focuses on the centuries-old relationship between wine and the arts: visual arts, literature, music, cinema and culinary arts. The main floor pays homage to the history of the castle and the illustrious people (the Marquise Giulia di Barolo and the patriot Silvio Pellico) who lived there, as well as a library on the history of Barolo wine. The visit ends in the basement where you can discover and taste the grand crus of Barolo. In addition, the WiMu is one of the locations for the Wine Tasting Experience
